Description: The 2018 Members’ Show will be held in the rotunda of the Plaza of the Rockies building on the corner of Tejon and Colorado Avenue March 1 – April 3. The show is a “Miniature Show,” due to limited space available.
Show Information: Signature members may enter 2 paintings and Associate Members may enter 1. Size is strictly limited to an outside measurement of a total of 50 inches. This is the equivalent of an 11 x 14, but members may enter another shape as long as the total of the four sides of the frame or canvas equals no more than 50 inches. Watermedia, including watercolor, acrylic, gouache, collaged elements made by the artist only, on paper, Yupo, canvas, cradled canvas, aquaboard, silk, and tile, will be accepted. ONLY ORIGINAL ARTWORK CREATED ENTIRELY BY THE MEMBER WILL BE ACCEPTED. ALL paintings, no matter how small, must have wires for hanging. NO sawtooth hangers allowed. The reason for this is that we hang on standing metal grids, and in order to prevent theft, we zip tie the painting wire to the grid.
Dates: Intake will be March 1, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. Outtake will be April 3, with times to be announced. NO storage space is available, so artists must arrange to pick up their work or designate another member/family member/friend to pick up their work.
Costs: Members are invited to show their work without charge; however, the venue will collect 20% commission, so members should price their pieces accordingly with both of these pieces of information in mind. The show manager is Mike Pach, a local photographer, who coordinates the events there. He provides a musician and snacks for the First Friday Art Opening, March 2 from 5-8 pm.
Sales: Sales are made when a customer contacts Mike Pach, who runs the shows at the Plaza of the Rockies. Unless extenuating circumstances exist, sold paintings will remain in place until the end of the show. PPWS will be allowed to have a poster to educate the guests about PPWS. Members should have their price and contact info affixed to the back of their paintings: name, phone numbers, email and price.
Volunteer Position Available: A team of 5 members is needed to hang the show (paintings hang on grids attached for security to those grids with zip ties). PPWS will also need a member available at intake to make the labels (unless we print them before and then write the information on the printed forms). Additionally, PPWS members will need to be in attendance at the First Friday Art Walk on March 2. Shifts will be made available. A team of 5 members is needed to run outtake on April 3. One member is needed for publicity of the event.
Verification: PPWS will expect each member showing to sign an affidavit affirming that the artwork is an original and created solely by the artist. PPWS will also expect an affirmation that the artwork is available for SALE; there will be nothing displayed that is NFS.
Additionally, Mike Pach and the President of PPWS will have the final say in what is or is not appropriate for viewing in this family friendly location.
